The Delhi Capitals are facing a significant setback as it appears that Mitchell Starc may not return for IPL 2025. The Australian fast bowler traveled to Sydney on Sunday after a week-long hiatus in cricket due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. With the situation now resolved, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed all players to return to their home grounds by May 13.
According to reports from an Australian television channel, Starc and his wife arrived in Sydney from Singapore. During a live segment, Starc's manager suggested that he might not participate in the remainder of the season. Additionally, other Australian players, including Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis, also returned home during this break, leaving the Capitals potentially without a key player.
The reporter stated:
“Mitchell Starc just landed moments ago with his wife at Sydney airport from Singapore. While he didn’t talk to us, his manager has confirmed with us that he may not be going back,”
Starc has been a standout performer for Delhi this season, claiming 14 wickets in just 12 matches before the league was paused.
Reports indicate that all teams, except for Punjab Kings (PBKS), have been instructed to return to their home venues by Tuesday. However, PBKS may have to play at a different location instead of Dharamsala due to a match cancellation caused by organizational issues.
